Expressions of Interest Now Open for Free Swimming and Swimming Lessons
Following the success of the city's Funded Swimming Programme, Preston City Council has extended its investment in free swimming opportunities across Better Leisure Centres in Preston.
Through funding of £120,000 provided to GLL, the charitable social enterprise that operates Better leisure centres, eligible Preston residents will continue to benefit from free access to swimming sessions and swimming lessons designed to support healthier, more active lifestyles.
Expressions of interest are now open, giving residents the opportunity to register for a range of funded swimming offers aimed at removing barriers to participation and helping more people enjoy the many physical, mental and social benefits of swimming.
The programme includes six different offers, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active in the water. Whether you're looking to learn a life-saving skill, build confidence, improve your fitness, or simply enjoy recreational swimming, there is an option available to suit your needs.
Swimming is one of the most inclusive forms of physical activity, and throughout the funded programme participants will be supported by Better's friendly, professional lifeguards and qualified swimming instructors. A range of sessions, including gender-specific opportunities, will also be available to ensure as many residents as possible can take part comfortably and safely.
By removing financial and accessibility barriers, the programme aims to encourage more people than ever to experience the life-changing benefits of swimming while developing healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
