The annual Panshanger Golf Club's ladies charity day returned this year on Tuesday 17th May. The day was full of fun competitions with prizes and raffles going on to help raise money for charity, The Herts Young Homeless Charity. There was a nearest the pin competition on the 14th and a straightest drive competition on the 6th. The ladies also had the opportunity to buy a drive from club professional Nick Pinnock who would take their tee shot off the 1st hole. All the ladies took advantage of this with majority finishing on or around the green but there were a few who probably wished they had hit their own drive. Nick also hit their tee shots on the 9th hole but from the 1st tee instead. This made it a very interesting shot with the good weather not really helping as it became very difficult for the ball to stop.

The day was well supported by all our ladies members and was a great success. The only downside was that it became too hot with temperatures reaching 26 degrees. Even though all the ladies managed at least 9 holes and they did a fantastic job of raising over £400 for the Herts Young Homeless Charity. A special thank you has to go to Trish Skinner who spent the day organising everything and to her partner George Wood who supported throughout the day.

They focus on preventing homelessness – from education in schools and family mediation through supporting 16-24 year olds in their first homes or caring for adults of all ages who have mental health issues and housing needs. Their services empower young people to be able to deal with the difficult situations in their lives, giving them the ability and confidence to ‘do it themselves’ and ultimately find stability.
