In May half term Better Stanborough Park was delighted to welcome back the Welhat Sports team, from the local council, with another exciting Xplorer event. Xplorer is a free family fun navigation challenge, suitable for children of all ages. It is a great way to get children involved in an interesting, fun challenge while, at the same time, enjoying all the health benefits of the outdoors and the beautiful surroundings that Stanborough Park has to offer.

The May half term event attracted lots of happy searchers who had a fabulous time using a map to search for dinosaur and bird themed markers; there was even a prizes on offer for some lucky searchers.

Xplorer also took place during the Easter holidays at King George V and Stanborough Park North and attracted over 65 children to take part, despite the chilly weather.

Welhat Sports and the team at Better started delivering Xplorer events in 2018 in partnership with the Herts Disability foundation. There wasn’t any specific funding, instead the Council purchased the kit, and each year the Council has renewed the license which means that they can continue to deliver free events in the parks.

In addition to our regular Xplorer events, the Herts Disability Sports Foundation regularly use the kit to deliver their own search events at Stanborough, tailored specifically to the needs of their clients.

Welhat Sports have plans to deliver Xplorer in the summer across the parks in the borough. And they will take place on the following dates:

27 July, Stanborough Park North

3 August King George V playing fields

10 August Moneyhole Lane

17 August King George V playing fields

There will be prizes and certificates to be won at each of the events.

As well as the events organised by the council team at WelHet Sports, the Better team are looking forward to delivering a spooky Halloween themed Xplorer event in the October half term holiday.
