At Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre, we believe the lake is best experienced not just from the shore, but by mastering the art of moving across it. Whether you’re completely new to watersports or looking to sharpen your technique, our expert instructors are here to help you build confidence and enjoy every moment on the water.
We offer professional tuition in:
Kayaking – from the basics of paddling and control to advanced techniques for longer journeys.
Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) – learn balance, strokes, and turns so you can glide smoothly across the lake.
Canoeing – perfect for individuals or families, develop the skills to paddle solo or in tandem while exploring Windermere’s hidden corners.
Sailing – discover the thrill of harnessing the wind, with lessons tailored to beginners and improvers.
Our sessions are designed to be safe, supportive, and fun. With a focus on hands-on learning, you’ll quickly gain the confidence to take to the water independently. All equipment is provided, and we adapt our approach to suit your ability, age, and goals.

Adventure Club

Adventure Club – Sundays are lake days!
Give your child the chance to discover the outdoors in a fun, active, and supportive environment. Our Adventure Club runs every Sunday and is designed for children aged 8–16 years (Key Stage 2 and above) who love being outdoors, learning new skills, and making friends. There are 2 sessions per week - 10am - 1pm is for Primary children in KS2. 1.30pm - 4.30pm is for Secondary age children.
Each week, our experienced instructors lead exciting sessions on and around Lake Windermere, introducing children to a wide range of adventurous activities. From kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, and sailing to team challenges, games, and outdoor skills, no two Sundays are ever the same.

Adult Sailing Club – Mondays on Windermere
Set sail each Monday and enjoy the freedom of the open water with our friendly Adult Sailing Club. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or just starting out, our sessions are designed to help you improve your skills, meet like-minded people, and make the most of sailing on England’s largest lake.
Club Sessions
9:30am – 12:30pm: Morning sailing for confident sailors looking to practise, explore, and enjoy time on the water with guidance and support from our instructors.
Beginner Sessions
1:30pm – 4:30pm: An afternoon dedicated to those new to sailing. Our experienced team will introduce you to the essentials – from rigging and handling the boat to harnessing the wind – all in a safe, supportive environment.
We aim to have a beginners and more experienced session, however, we understand that everyones schedules are different. If you want to sail with us, no matter your ability, please get in touch and we will try to accomodate you in either session.
Whether you’re looking to refresh your skills, build confidence, or start your sailing journey from scratch, our Adult Sailing Club is the perfect way to spend a Monday on Lake Windermere. All equipment is provided – just bring your enthusiasm for adventure.
Sessions cost £40 per person per week, Paid in a monthly block.
