The Better York Partnership has recently launched Accessibility Guides for all York centres in partnership with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information. AccessAble explains that they aim to take the chance out of going out and provide the detailed information needed to work out if a place is going to be accessible for different individuals.

Better York has worked closely with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to our centres across York, including Burnholme Sports Centre, Energise Leisure Centre, Yearsley Swimming Pool, York Leisure Centre and the LNER Community Stadium.

Detailed Access Guides will tell you about a venue’s access. They are 100% facts, figures and photographs to help visitors and staff to plan their journeys to and around the centres, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets. AccessAble know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details in the Guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Paul Bickle, York Partnership Manager for Better, said “Better is continually seeking to improve its’ leisure centre services for the local residents of York and surrounding areas. The four Better leisure centres and the LNER Community Stadium have had a comprehensive accessibility review with our partners AccessAble to ensure that the relevant information is easily accessible on our website and the AccessAble website. This is a fantastic tool to enable a detailed access guide. We will be working with AccessAble in the coming years to further enhance the accessibility of our leisure centres.”
