Local swimmer ends season on a high

York City Baths Club swimmer Mollie Garratt competed at both the British Summer Championships at Tollcross International Swimming Centre and the Swim England National Summer Championships at Ponds Forge over the past 2 weeks.

A busy schedule of races resulted in progression to four finals with Mollie improving her times in all four events from her morning round/heat swims to each final. Mollie also swam personal best times in the 50m and 100m Freestyle events the latter being the first time under the coveted 1 minute mark in a long course swimming pool.

  • 100m Backstroke 4th 1:04.65
  • 50m Backstroke 6th 0:30.71
  • 200m Backstroke 12th 2:24.51

Swim England Summer Championships, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield 

  • 50m Freestyle 5th 0:27.65 Personal Best time
  • 100m Freestyle in equal 5th 0:59.90 Personal Best time
