Proud Partnership: GLL Support Drives Green Bath Racing to European Success
GLL is proud to celebrate the outstanding success of Green Bath Racing, the student engineering team from the University of Bath, following their impressive performance at the Shell Eco-marathon 2026 in Poland. As part of our commitment to supporting local communities, education, and environmental sustainability, Odd Down Sports Ground provided the team with free, exclusive access to its cycling track, giving them a safe and reliable venue to test and refine their ultra-efficient electric vehicle.
The hard work and dedication of the students paid off on the international stage. Competing against some of the brightest young engineers from across Europe and Africa, the team overcame significant technical challenges to achieve remarkable results in the Battery Electric Prototype category. Green Bath Racing secured second place in the UK standings, finished seventh overall out of 34 European and African teams, and achieved an astonishing efficiency figure of 785 km/kWh.
The partnership highlights GLL's commitment to its core value of Respecting the Planet. By making our facilities available to innovative projects that promote sustainable technology, we are helping to encourage the development of future solutions to environmental challenges. Green Bath Racing's achievements demonstrate how collaboration between community organisations and educational institutions can create opportunities for innovation and success.
Mark Harrison, GLL's Community Sports Manager for Bath and North East Somerset and Swindon, said: “We are delighted to see Green Bath Racing achieve such fantastic results at an international level. It has been a privilege to support the team by providing access to our facilities and to watch their dedication and innovation translate into success. Their achievements not only showcase exceptional engineering talent but also demonstrate the importance of sustainable thinking and technological advancement.”
We look forward to following the team's future progress and welcoming them back as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.
