Talented athletes across Cambridge are invited to apply for support from the UK’s largest independent athlete funding programme, the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF).

Now in its 18th year, the scheme is offering a record £2m in financial and in‑kind support for 2026.

GSF Awards provide vital help for young athletes facing the rising costs of training, travel and equipment. Support includes bursaries, free access to Better gyms and pools, physiotherapy, lifestyle mentoring and mental wellbeing resources. Most GSF athletes are under 21, and 88% receive no other form of funding.

Since 2008, the programme has distributed almost £20m of support to over 35,000 athletes, including well‑known names such as Tom Daley, Ellie Simmonds and Anthony Joshua. GSF athletes brought home 77 medals from the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Patron Sally Gunnell OBE continues to champion the scheme, alongside partners including SportsAid, Mary Peters Trust and Switch the Play Foundation.
Applications open 20th December 2025 and close 20th February 2026.
