The new bike hub will be situated by the Northeast Terrace, at The Sands Centre, in Carlisle. This will bring a modern space for cycling enthusiasts to enjoy. Equipped with self-service bike storage, maintenance facilities, and a variety of community-focused activities, the hub will support riders in developing skills, exploring local routes, and connecting with fellow cyclists. This welcoming environment will be designed to inspire active lifestyles and foster a sense of community.
What's on offer?
The Bike Hub will provide secure, self-service bike storage and dedicated maintenance facilities. It will also offer community workshops teaching bike maintenance and safety skills, and guided rides to explore Carlisle’s scenic cycle routes, including Hadrian’s Cycleway, Bitts Park, and Rickerby Park. Confidence-building sessions will also be available for seniors, young people, and socially prescribed groups, helping everyone enjoy cycling safely and confidently.
How to book
A free ‘Pay & Play’ membership will be required to use the Bike Hub, with non-member rates starting from £3 for 3 hours or £5 for a full day. Slots will be easily bookable via our standard online booking system. Once booked, users receive a unique access code, which is regularly updated for security. Access will be monitored regularly via CCTV to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
