Swimmers of all abilities across Croydon are signing up to take part in Swimathon 2020, with events taking place in five of local Better-operated pools, raising money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

For over 30 years, Swimathon, the world’s biggest fundraising swim, has encouraged swimmers for all corners of the UK to take part, swim a distance that will challenge the individual and raise sponsorship funds in the process. To date Swimathon has raised more than £50 million for good causes.

Better Leisure is the UK’s largest provider of public swimming and official partner of Cancer Research UK. This year it is once again teaming up with Swimathon to support fundraising events at over 80 Better swimming pools across the UK, including [insert names of local participating leisure centres] from 27th to 29th March 2020. Over the past two years Swimathon has raised £4.3million on behalf of the two charities.

Participants can take on distances from 400m to 5k or for those who really like a challenge a triple 5k event, as well as team and family challenges, where teams of 2-5 people can swim 1.5k or 5k.

Emma Lewis, National Swimming Development Manager at Better, said: “As a charitable social enterprise we are delighted to be supporting Swimathon again this year and to encourage people across the UK to get into the water to help raise vital funds for fantastic causes.

“The response from local people so far has been outstanding with scores of sign ups, but there are still chances to register and take part at Better pools such as [insert local leisure centres]. We encourage everyone to sign up, get active and raise some money.”
