ACTIVE FOR LIFE SESSIONS

The RBKC Active for Life programme is your guide to free and low cost activities taking place within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The RBKC Sports Development Team, in partnership with local organisations across the borough, provide activities for all abilities and backgrounds.

These are some of the RBKC organised classes you can enjoy every week here at Kensington Leisure Centre:

SWIMMING

Swimming Lessons

Active for Life adult swimming sessions will give you the chance to learn and practice your swimming with the advice of our qualified swimming instructors. Swimming is a great way to help with your general physical fitness.

Day: Monday

Time: 2- 3pm

Swimsanity

Swimsanity classes incorporate swimming stroke techniques to help the body learn the movements required for swimming strokes. Its not just a high intensity aqua class for men and women it actually can help you start to learn to swim just through participation in the class.

Day: Tuesday

Time: 6.30 – 7.30pm

Cost: £2.10


Swimming Lessons (50+)

A swim instructor led class for all those over 50 years of age. Suitable for both beginner and intermediate level swimmers.

Day: Wednesday

Time: 11am – 12pm

Cost: FREE


Aquamotion

A vigorous exercise session which takes place to music in both the shallow and deep end of the pool. This fun and sociable session includes simple ex-ercises which can increase your mobility, strength and flexibility.

Day: Friday

CLASSES

Strictly Dance

Looking for a way to improve your fitness, posture and flexibility? Look no further, the Active for Life Strictly Dance class is for you. Every session there is new music, new moves... and most importantly new people! Step in to Strictly Dance and have fun while getting fit!

Yoga

Yoga offers a holistic approach to body, mind and spirit, which can provide us with the ‘tools’ to cope with the challenges of daily life. Yoga classes include stretching and flexing the body, breathing awareness and relaxation.

Pilates beginners

Pilates focuses on muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential to providing support for the spine. Pilates also strengthens the deep torso muscles, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back pain.

Day: Tuesday

Combat Fitness (women only)

Combat fitness is a high-energy martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness and burn up to 740 calories in a class No experience needed. Learn moves from Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Kung Fu. Release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ. Bring your best fighter attitude and leave inhibitions at the door.

Pilates Intermediate

Pilates focuses on muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential to providing support for the spine. Pilates also strengthens the deep torso muscles, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back pain.

Spinning (women only)

A spinning workout is an excellent way to burn some calories and relieve stress. Spin focuses on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery.

Gym club (instructor led class)

An instructor lead class which increases your heart rate and improves your physical fitness. A good workout for those who prefer being with others. Learn the correct techniques that keeps you safe whilst keeping fit.

Day: Thursday

Time: 2 – 3pm

Men Only Racket Sports

Come and try our men only Racket Sports session at Kensington Leisure Centre. Suitable for all abilities and delivered in a welcoming environment by a knowledgeable instructor. Badminton, Table Tennis and Touch Tennis are all available!

Time: 12:00 – 1:00pm

Cost: FREE


Zumba

Zumba is one of the most fun and versatile Latin-inspired fitness dance classes. Working up a sweat in the 60-minute classes burns an average of 369 calories.

Day: Friday

Time: 2 – 3pm
