We are planning on improving the Gym for our customers and would like to share our ideas with you.

Development of Functional and Stretch areas

The proposed improvements are focused on responding to customer demand by increasing the size of the current functional and stretching areas. As part of the improvements we will also be adding the following:

  • New, additional functional frame, complete with rope pull, target board for medicine ball throws, boxing bags, TRX, dip station, monkey bars and more
  • 8 metre long astro turf track, with a weighted sled
  • New Technogym cardio machines including Skillmill, Skillrow, and Stairclimber models
  • Tyre flip
  • Sandbells
  • Additional, wider range of new kettlebells, core bags, swiss balls, plyoboxes, battle ropes and more
  • Functional / stretch floor space to be made twice the size of current area
  • Multi functional, vibrant, coloured lighting fitted into this area
  • New vivid wall art installed in functional space

Full details and drawings of the proposed plans are displayed in the centre reception and gym.

FAQ’s

Q: Why are you completing this refurbishment?

A: Due to customer demand for more functional and stretching space in the gym, and current issues with overcrowding in this area.

Q: How are you listening to our feedback?

A: The gym is being enhanced as a result of direct feedback from users. We have proposed these improvements and are now keen to hear what you think.

Q: When will works start and how long will they take?

A: We would like to start works in December and finish by the end of January.

Q: Will my gym session be disrupted during these works?

A: The gym will remain open throughout the works, although some sections of will need to be closed off to allow contractors to work safely. We will ensure disruption is minimised as much as possible

Q: What will the building works entail?

A: There will be new flooring and lighting installed in the central area of the gym, including a dedicated sled track, plus contractors will need to fit a second functional frame, and new equipment.

Q: Will any equipment be getting removed as part of the project?

A: All resistance machines will be retained or relocated, and a number of rowers and steppers will be upgraded to newer versions. The free weights area will not be changed. The only machines we expect to lose will be 5-6 treadmills although we still retain the vast majority and we will introduce a brand new Skillmill to offer runners a new alternative, as well as bringing a range of new functional kit.
