Sutton Sports Village Announces Significant New Investment in Racquet Sports Ageing facilities at Sutton Sports Village are set for a significant upgrade, designed to increase participation and widen the racquet sports offering, following an announcement by GLL, the charitable social enterprise that operates the facility.
The planned renovations will see the introduction of four indoor padel courts and two pickleball courts, while three of the existing tennis courts will be retained. Outside, the 20-year-old tennis courts will be resurfaced with macadam, while planning permission is being sought for floodlighting to extend playing time into the evenings year-round.
The new development will also see the introduction of a padel programme for juniors and adults, including coaching, courses, competitions, private tuition, and pay-and-play access.
There are also plans to convert a disused café into a vibrant sports lounge, enhancing the overall customer experience and providing a comfortable area for socialising and relaxing before and after play.
The introduction of new racquet sports and the upgrades of existing facilities are expected to increase the number of visitors to the Sports Village by over 10 per cent.
GLL's Head of Sports and Aquatics Andrew Clark said:

Padel is the fastest growing sport in the UK, with nearly a million players across the country after participation levels more than doubled in 2025. Pickleball is another growth activity and has recently been recognised by Sport England.
Works start on 24 August on the indoor padel and pickleball courts and are expected to take 8-10 weeks to complete.
Works on the outside tennis courts commence on 14 September and are expected to take 6-8 weeks to complete.
