The Waltham Forest Cup is a brand-new initiative to promote Social Sports and chosen customers will represent their centres in one of 4 activities throughout the year. The locations of the competitions will move around the borough to make it fairer.

How does it work?

Centres will bring one or two teams to each of the 4 events throughout the year.
There will be medals for the winning teams. Based on the positions at the event your centre will get points to add to the league table for the Waltham Forest Cup.

When does it start?

It starts on Sunday 29th March at Chingford Leisure Centre with mixed doubles for table tennis.

Who is it for?

Adult members and regular customers can register to take part, and centres will select the players.

I go to multiple centres who should I play for?

You can select the centres you visit on the form and will be allocated the one which needs players.

How do I register?

It's great that you are interested in taking part in table tennis, complete this form
If mixed table tennis is not your activity keep on the lookout for the next social sport competition as part of the Waltham Forest Cup.

Can I only take part in one event?

Yes, that is fine, we are hoping multiple members will represent their centres across the different activities as we want more people to get involved.

Can I watch?

Depending on the sport and the activity layout this should be possible. Complete the form and say you want to watch for more information.

What are Social Sports?

These are sessions where participants can sign-up as individuals and join others for a sport activity. Depending on your membership these are included or an additional fee, and they are a good way to meet people. GLL’s current list of social sports is badminton, basketball, football, pickleball, running, table tennis, and tennis. You can check out the Waltham Forest programme and read more information in this article or on the Better UK app.
