Walthamstow Leisure Centre |Opens Its doors for a free Community Open Weekend this July
Looking for a fun, active, and completely free way to spend your weekend this summer?
Walthamstow Leisure Centre is inviting the local community to its Open Weekend on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July 2026, we are offering a packed schedule of free activities, Fitness Classes and family-freindly sessions for all ages.
Wether you are already on your fitness journey, thinking about starting one, or simply looking for something active to do with the family, this is the perfect opportunity to explore everything the centre has to offer.
Across both days, visitors can enjoy free access to the gym from 10am-4pm for adults, giving everyone the chance to experience the facilities, equipment, and atmosphere without any commitment.
Families are welcome too, with free Junior Gym access for ages 11+ when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Also running from 10am-4pm. It is great chance for young people to get active, build confidence and discover healthy habits.
For racket sports lovers, there will also be free social sessions available:
Social Badminton 11am-12pm
Social Pickleball 12pm-1pm
These sessions are ideal for beginners, casual players, or anyone wanting to try something new in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Fitness Classes - Something for Everyone (16+)
The Open Weekend also features a fantastic range of group exercise classes led by the centre's experienced instructors.

Fit Beats: 11am-12pm with Pauline
Functaional Fitness 12pm-12.30pm with Mariya

Boxfit: 9am-10am with Derrick
Legs, Bums and Tums: 9am-10am with Aga
Circuit Training: 10am-11am with Derrick
Yoga: 11am-12pm with Denise
Functional Fitness: 12pm-12.30pm with Mariya
From high-energy cardio and strength sessions to calming yoga and functional training, there's something suitable for every fitness level.
Gymnastics Sessions for Children
Younger visitors can also get involved with variety of gymnastics sessions throughout the weekkend, designed to help build coordination, strength, and confidence in a safe and fun enviroment.

This Open Weekend is all about bringing the community together, promotiong health and wellbeing, and giving everyone the chance to try new activities in a welcoming environment.

What you need to know
Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the app or online via the button below:

Then simply booking an available open day activity. As part of the registration process, customers must agree to the activity terms and conditions, which include a signed waiver granting access into the centre.
The Day Pass can then be used to access activities on one of the days during our Open Weekend, either Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th July.
The pass will include access to: gym, fitness classes and swimming sessions including swimming lessons.
Multiple activities can be booked on the chosen day of the pass.
Whether you're looking to hit the gym, try out a new fitness class or enjoy a swim, take advantage of this opportunity to find your fit with us during the Open Weekend. Remember, after claiming your pass, to secure your space you'll still need to book into specific swim sessions and fitness classes including swimming lessons.

What do I need to bring?
Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for all classes. Please make sure you bring a towel and water with you. If you go for swim please make sure you have appropriate swim wear.
What if I have a health condition?
Please make sure you let the members of staff know about any health conditions prior to activity.
What if I have never been before?
If you're new to any of the activities or unsure about using certain equipment, feel free to ask one of our staff members. We’re here to guide you. If you’re using the gym or taking part in any physical activities today, please ensure you’ve warmed up first. If you need guidance, our fitness instructors are here to help.
Do I have to be a member?
No, our open day sessions are open to everyone. Non-members can participate by creating a free account via the Better UK app or online at register then simply booking an available open day activity.
