East Manchester Leisure Centre Supports Veterans to complete Manchester Challenge
Supporting Our Veterans at East Manchester Leisure Centre
East Manchester Leisure Centre recently had the pleasure of hosting Walking with The Wounded (WWTW) as part of their inspiring Manchester challenge.
The challenge was no small feat – participants ran from their office to East Manchester Leisure Centre, completed 100 pull-ups, 200 press-ups, and 300 squats, and then ran a mile… before pushing themselves even further by running all the way back.
Walking With The Wounded is an incredible organisation dedicated to supporting those who have served in the armed forces. They provide vital support with:
- Mental health
- Employment opportunities
- Wraparound care coordination programmes tailored to individual need
Founded in 2010 by veterans Ed Parker and Simon Daglish, WWTW is driven by a pioneering spirit. Their mission is to empower veterans facing serious challenges to rediscover their place in society. This positive and determined approach reflects the resilience and ambition seen in the veterans they support.
In partnership with Manchester City Council East Manchester Leisure Centre is currently offering free memberships to Manchester veterans. If you would like to sign up, come down to the centre and we can help get you started.
