Mary Glindon MP Presents Trophies to our successful Parkinson's Table Tennis participants.
On Friday 26th June, Mary Glindon (MP for Newcastle East and Wallsend) attended Walker Activity Dome to present trophies to our successful Parkinsons Table Tennis participants.
In March this year, a tournament was held at WAD with competitors from the Batting with Parkinsons and PD players from the Ping Pong Parlour. The tournament consisted of Parkinsons Mens Singles, PPP Mens Singles, PPP Womens Singles, Mens Singles, PPP Mens Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The tournament was helf in a fun and positive environment. The list of winners is as below:
- Parkinsons Mens Singles - Rick Telford, Derek Carpenter, Simon Hughes
- PPP Mens Singles - Chris Sutcliffe and Bernie Brow
- PPP Womens Singles - Hennifer Hinves
- Mens Singles - Mark Ainsley
- PPP Mens Doubles - Bernie Brow and Terry Black
- Mixed Doubles - Diane Ainsley and Charlie Carpenter
A number of honorary awards were also presented following the prize awards for commitment to Table Tennis and improving Health. The winners of these awards include Graham Leslie, Steven Kennedy and Roger Mansuy.
We would like to place on record a special thank you to Philip Cheung for leading on the Parkinsons Table Tennis group at Walker Activity Dome which has helped enrich the lives of all participants, improve physical and mental wellbeing and improve the Leisure Centre's social value. The outcomes from the group is testiment to Philips hard work and commitment to the Parkinsons Table Tennis Project.
We would also like to thank Mary Glindon for taking the time to visit the group at WAD, participate in open conversations with all participants and present trophies to all winners and honorary memebrs.
