October's Community News
It has been another busy and positive month for the North Kesteven Partnership, with a range of activities helping residents stay active, connected and healthy.
Mental Health in Sport & Physical Activity
Community Sports Manager Jamie Cheevers attended Active Lincolnshire's Mental Health in Sport and Physical Activity Roundtable at Jubilee Park, Woodhall Spa. The event brought together organisations from across the county to share best practice, discuss challenges and explore ways to strengthen support for positive mental health through sport and physical activity.
Partnership success in the Club Games
Sleaford Leisure Centre members Terry Grant and Andrew Pearson proudly represented the North Kesteven Partnership in the recent Club Games Timed Swim Competition, completing an impressive 88 lengths in 45 minutes. Andrew's determination and resilience following a life-changing accident continue to inspire those around him and demonstrate the power of staying active.
A spooky spin on fitness
Members at Better Gym Sleaford embraced the Halloween spirit during a special themed Group Cycle session led by Community Sports Manager Jamie Cheevers and Regional Health Manager Shaun Fisher. The event combined fitness, fun and community spirit, with members enjoying a unique twist on one of the centre's most popular classes.
U3A Table Tennis finds a new home
The U3A Table Tennis Group has successfully settled into Better Gym Sleaford following a move supported by the Community Sports Team. The group's new venue offers improved accessibility and facilities, and in just four weeks has recorded 46 participant visits, helping members continue to enjoy the physical and social benefits of regular activity.
Lifesaving skills in the community
Sleaford Leisure Centre supported Restart a Heart Day, providing local residents with the opportunity to learn and refresh essential CPR skills. Thanks to Tom Wong from North Kesteven District Council for delivering demonstrations and helping raise awareness of the importance of early intervention during cardiac emergencies.
Halloween half-term fun
Families enjoyed a range of Halloween-themed activities across the October half-term period, including a colouring competition and themed Swim School lessons. The activities provided a fun way for children to stay engaged while continuing to build confidence and skills in and around the water.
Looking ahead
These activities highlight the continued commitment of the North Kesteven Partnership to creating opportunities for residents of all ages to improve their health and wellbeing, connect with others and lead more active lives. Through strong partnership working and community engagement, we continue to make a positive difference across the district.
