Tadworth Leisure Centre Expands Free Kids Drop-In Football Sessions
Tadworth Leisure & Community Centre is delighted to offer its popular free Kids Drop-In Football sessions, providing local young people with a safe, active, and engaging space to play, socialise, and stay healthy. The impact of these sessions has significantly reduced anti-social behaviour in the local area.
Running every Monday and Wednesday during term time from 4pm - 6pm, these sessions are open to all abilities, for juniors aged between 8 - 14 years.
These sessions are fully funded through partnership working between Reigate and Banstead council, Better, and other community partners, ensuring there are no barriers to participation for young people. The centre continues to actively pursue additional funding opportunities to maintain and grow this valuable provision for the community.
As part of Tadworth Leisure Centre’s wider junior programme, the Football Kids Drop-In sessions contribute to creating positive after-school opportunities that encourage:
Regular physical activity
Social interaction and teamwork
Confidence building in a safe, supervised environment
Due to the continued success and strong uptake of the football sessions, Better and the council are now exploring opportunities to expand the programme further. Plans are currently being developed to introduce additional Kids Drop-In activities, including:
Dance
Basketball
Pickleball
These new sessions aim to broaden the range of activities available to young people, ensuring even more opportunities to engage, stay active, and be part of their local community.
General Manager Gareth Spencer said:
“We’re really proud to be able to offer these free sessions for the community. The success of the football drop-in has shown just how important these opportunities are for local young people. Working in partnership with the council, we’re excited to now look at how we can expand this offer even further.”
