Friday Night Project – Carterton Leisure Centre
The Friday Night Project has proven to be a huge success for teenagers aged 13–16 since its launch in February 2026.
Created in response to a growing need within the local community, the project provides a safe, welcoming, and engaging space where young people can stay active, meet new people, and feel part of something positive.
Since its introduction, the sessions have been extremely popular, regularly reaching full capacity with advance booking required. A key highlight of the project has been the consistently positive engagement from participants, with many young people returning week after week.

Activities Offered
Sessions run throughout term time in the sports hall, offering a wide variety of activities, including:
- Multi-sport activities
- Pizza nights
- Arts and crafts
- Themed events
- Disco nights
- Crafts
- Chill-out and social spaces
At the end of each month, sessions take place in the trampoline park, with exclusive use from 7:30pm – 9:00pm, providing an exciting additional experience for attendees.
Looking Ahead
The long-term goal of the Friday Night Project is to continue growing and developing the sessions, ensuring they remain something young people genuinely look forward to each week.
By combining physical activity, social interaction, themed events, and inclusive engagement, the project supports young people in building confidence, forming friendships, and creating positive experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
