In the gym, brand new Technogym CV and strength equipment has been introduced including the latest cardio equipment such as treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, and spin bikes. There’s also new strength equipment and free weights area featuring an Olympic bar with weight plates up to 120kg.The project also includes a refurbishment of the existing gym space re-decorated to give a fresh look and feel - including new flooring, lighting and ceiling grid, as well as repairs to the existing roof. In addition, improved audio visual equipment including new TV screens and an improved music system has also been installed.

Local Councillor, Tony Lywood officially opened the new gym on Thursday 14 February. As part of the event, the Lakeland Rowing Club were presented with a rowing machine.

“The refurbishment looks great “ said Tony. “The state of the art equipment will hopefully enhance the health and wellbeing of the people of Keswick. Keeping fit and healthy, although not always easy should be encouraged. Allerdale Borough Council, the Keswick Rowing Club and GLL have done a first class job here and I wish the newly refurbished gym every success.”

Martin Horne, Partnership Manager for Better who manage Keswick Leisure Pool on behalf of Allerdale Borough Council said:

“We’re delighted with the refurbishment at Keswick Leisure Pool and the feedback that we’ve received from customers has been excellent. Our aim is to get more people, more active, more often and this project will certainly help us achieve that. Its good to see so many new faces using the new gym as well as our regular members.”

Michael Heaslip, Executive member with responsibility for leisure centres, said: “I’m really pleased to see that this new state-of-the-art gym equipment in Keswick is already proving really popular. This is part of our efforts, working with Better, to ensure everyone in Allerdale has access to great sporting facilities.”

Chris Pratt Lakeland Rowing Club Chairman said: 

"Lakeland Rowing Club is very appreciative for the rowing machine that has been kindly donated by Keswick Leisure Pool. This will be loaned to Keswick School where we have developed thriving indoor, and on-the-water, rowing training programmes for school students of all ages.  We'd also like to congratulate Keswick Leisure Pool on the refurbishment of it's gym with new Technogym equipment. As a growing community rowing club it is great to have this type of training facility in Keswick'
