Our swimming instructor Ben Routhorn has completed his Movember challenge of travelling 60k in a week.

Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Funding has supported areas such as mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testiticular cancer.

This November we challenged our members to travel 60km by the end of the month.

Bath Sports and Leisure Centre's Ben Routhorn set himself the challenge of doing 60k in just one week. Ben achieved his target and ended up hitting over 70k. On Sunday, the final day of Ben's challenge, he walked on a treadmill for 10k whilst wearing a weighted vest and wrist weights totalling in an extra 30kg of weight.

"For my challenge I wanted to replicate the feeling of being weighted down emotionally and it was really tough to keep going until the end of the distance."

60 men are lost every hour worldwide to suicide, which is why we have chosen this distance as a target.

We have set up a Centre Just Giving page for anyone who is looking to donate to Movember.
