GLL is proud to extend its partnership with Tŷ Hafan, the children’s hospice in Wales.
Tŷ Hafan is a charity that holds a special place in many people’s hearts. Renowned as one of the UK’s leading pediatric palliative care charities, Tŷ Hafan offers care to children and support for their families throughout Wales.
Social enterprise GLL, operator of public leisure facilities in Cardiff, under the Better brand, will be extending its partnership with Tŷ Hafan, donating £1 from every Better All Inclusive Membership and Better Corporate Membership sold from 21st October 2019 – 24 December 2019.
Better Leisure Centres in Cardiff will also be used as ‘Donation Stations’ where people can bring items that they wish to gift to Tŷ Hafan.
In addition, two Better Leisure Centres will be offering a series of ‘Family Fun Days’, to provide respite for affected families. This will include sessions at the Air Venture Inflatable Obstacle Course at Western Leisure Centre and the Aqua Splash Pool Inflatable at Pentwyn Leisure Centre.
John Donovan, Business Manager for GLL in Cardiff, backs the partnership, having seen first hand the wonderful work of Tŷ Hafan: “As an ice hockey fan and a huge supporter of the Cardiff Devils, I came to learn about a wonderful little girl called Scarlett. Scarlett was born with a condition so unique that she has actually advanced medical science – it was always clear that she was a high achiever!
“Scarlett loved coming to the Cardiff Devils matches with her very special parents, Clair and Chris. Whilst Scarlett couldn’t vocalise her feelings – she would always have a cheeky, wide grin on her face whilst watching her beloved Devils. In fact, the only place I saw Scarlett happier was at Tŷ Hafan surrounded by the quite fantastic members of staff and the other brave, joyful children. It truly is a special environment – and one where the care and love is palpable”.
Rhys Jones, Regional Manager, GLL added: “At GLL, as a Social Enterprise, we want to do everything we can to support the communities we operate in. Tŷ Hafan does so much fantastic and crucial work – and we’re proud to continue our successful partnership”.
