Morton Swim Teacher Team members; Joy Ross, Nicola Wilson, Peter Ross and Rebecca Gowling, set off for London this week as finalists in the National GLL Awards.
GLL operate 258 Public sports and Leisure facilities, 88 Libraries, 10 children's centres and 5 adventure play grounds... So for our team to be selected as one of four finalists in the "Best Team" category is definitely something to be proud of!
The Morton Swim Team achieved many things in 2017.
They grew the programme to meet local community needs and broke the 500 swim school attendees barrier mid-year, which has been maintained through the rest of the year. They reached their highest ever total of 540 attendees during October.
Morton is a small centre with limited space, yet everyone embraced the challenge of adding additional classes and responsibilities throughout the year. This achievement is even more impressive given that there are no sales or CSA teams at Morton.
The team consists of multi-skilled duty managers and lifeguards, who have been pushing and marketing their own classes, booking on their own pupils, amending the programmes, delivering the classes, running swim school parties, targeted water-based sessions and following up all enquiries. This is in addition to their day job - and it has paid off.
Demonstrating their commitment and professionalism, the team believe in the Swim School product they deliver. This momentum makes for a great customer service for children and parents and ensures financial stability for the centre.
