SWIM SAFELY RULES

  • Under 8's and non swimmers 11-17 must be accompanied in the water by a competent adult swimmer.
  • No more than two under 8's or non swimmers 11-17 to one competent adult swimmer.
  • The competent adult swimmer must actively supervise under 8's and non swimmers 11-17 keeping them close and safe at all times.
  • Under 8's and all non swimmers must remain in shallow water. There are flotation barriers and red demarcation lines to help highlight areas of deep water.
  • We strongly recommend under 8's and non swimmers use armbands and/or an appropriate buoyancy aid.
  • Swim testing by lifeguards may be implemented to check the ability of swimmers before they are allowed into deep water. This will be at the discretion of the lifeguard on position.
    • The swim test requires swimmers to swim one length of the pool (25m) in a recognized swimming stroke without stopping.
    • When swimmers pass the test, they will be provided with a wristband to help highlight to lifeguards they are deemed safe in deeper water.
    • Swimmers who do not pass the swim test will be required to stay within shallow water under the supervision of a competent adult.
    • If parents are unable to adhere to the 2:1 supervisory ratio, then all swimmers may not be allowed to continue swimming. This is for the safety of all swimmers.
    • It’s extremely important adults ensure they have the right supervisory ratios before booking their swimming session to ensure all visitors can enjoy their swim.
  • Please adhere to the poolside rules otherwise you maybe asked to leave.

ENSURE YOU GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR FITNESS SWIM

Swim Etiquette

Pre Cleanse
Please help us to keep your pool clean by following our Swim Hygiene guidelines by showering and using the toilet facilities before you swim.
Respect
People of different standards and abilities will use the pool. Please respect their right to enjoy their swim.
Speed
Choose your lane using the fast, medium and slow signs and by watching those already swimming. Before pushing off at each turn, check to see if anyone faster is approaching.
Direction
Please follow the directional signs and move across to the appropriate side of the lane for each length.
Space
Try and leave at least 5 metres between yourself and another swimmer and if it’s possible to see a pace clock, then a 5 second gap is just as good.
Strokes
Wide stokes such as butterfly and breaststroke should be avoided when the lanes become busy. If you change to a slower stroke as part of your session, think about moving lanes.
Equipment
Fitness swimming training equipment, such as fins and hand paddles, is permitted at the discretion of the lifeguard and based on capacity. Snorkels can be used in conjunction with conventional swimming goggles.
Resting
Whether stopping for a rest or catching your breath after completing your swim, please be mindful that others using the lane will want to keep on swimming without stopping.

Celebrate your achievements and share your swimming stories
