50+ Club

Britannia Leisure Centre offers a range of healthy sport & physical activity sessions especially dedicated for those aged 50 years & over. Keep active and meet new friends for just £2.45 per day.

A Pay as you Go membership is required, which costs £1.75 for those over 60 or £49.70 for those over 50.

Gym

Britannia's gym contains a variety of equipment for those over 50 looking to improve their fitness. As you enter the gym you'll find our most easy to use equipment right in front of you, with our resistance and weights machines further into the gym.

Adults over 50 can access the gym for £2.45 on Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.

For those who might benefit from more support in the gym, we also have a Senior Supervised Gym session on Tuesday from 10am-12pm. To book:

Swim

Adults over 60 benefit from free swimming at Britannia, provided they have an annual Pay and Play membership, which costs £1.75 for the whole year.

Steam Room and Sauna

50+ members can access the sauna and steam room for £2.45 on the following days and times:

Tuesday 3-3.30pm

Thursday 3-4pm

Aerobics

Our dedicated senior Aerobics session take place on Thursdays from 1-2pm and 2-3pm.

Over 50s can attend this session for £2.45.

Speak to staff at reception to attend this class.

Fitness Classes

We have a variety of fitness classes that are designed to be suitable to those 50 and over including Aerobics, Aqua Aerobics, Pilates, Yoga and Dance Fitness.

Walking Netball

Walking netball is a slower-paced, low-impact version of netball designed for all fitness levels, focusing on fun, social connection, and gentle exercise. 

Our Walking Netball session takes place every Thursday from 10-11am. 

Over 50s can access the session for £2.45.

Short Tennis

Short tennis is a slower-paced version of tennis played on a smaller court  with a lower net, and softer balls. 

Our session takes place on a Tuesday from 2-3.30pm. It is lead by our tennis coach Nawaal.

Pickleball

Pickleball is an accessible paddle sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a badminton-sized court with a lower net, it uses solid paddles and a plastic ball, making it ideal for all ages and skill levels. 

Our session takes place on Fridays from 12-1.30pm.

Over 50s can access the session for £2.45.

Social Time

We also give our 50+ users the opportunity to socialise with dedicated studio space every Tuesday and Thursday (1-4pm).

Pop along to Studio 4 and meet some of our other regular senior users.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a gentle, low-impact form of yoga practised while seated or using a chair for support, making it accessible for people of all abilities. Sessions focus on improving flexibility, balance and strength while supporting relaxation and overall wellbeing.

Class takes place on Thursdays 2-3pm

The New Age Games programme

New Age Games is a sport and physical activity programme for Hackney residents aged 50 and over.

It can help you increase the amount of exercise you do and sustain it, contributing to a healthy lifestyle.
