Glass Mill hosts very successful Meet the Manager sessions
Glass Mill Leisure Centre hosted Meet the Manager sessions this month, providing customers with a valuable opportunity to share feedback, ideas and suggestions directly with the centre’s management team.
The session, led by General Manager Phil Cunningham, took place in the atrium on the evening of 6 May between 6pm and 8pm. The initiative forms part of a wider effort to strengthen engagement with customers and ensure that the centre continues to meet the needs of the local community.
To maximise accessibility, the sessions were promoted across the centre and designed to accommodate a range of users. Customers were invited to book 15‑minute slots in advance by emailing the centre, allowing them to outline the topics they wished to discuss. In addition to pre-bookings, the session also welcomed walk-in attendees, ensuring flexibility for those unable to plan ahead.
During the first session, three customers took part, including two who had booked appointments in advance and one walk-in attendee. Discussions covered a variety of topics, with overall feedback about the centre described as very positive. Customers particularly praised the professionalism and quality of both fitness instructors and group exercise leaders, reflecting the strong service standards in place across the facility.
Cleanliness across the centre was another area highlighted during the session. Attendees noted a clear improvement in standards, although they emphasised the importance of maintaining consistency across different shifts. Management has committed to addressing this feedback, with plans to reinforce cleaning expectations and include this focus within upcoming staff training sessions.
Customers also expressed interest in expanding the programme of evening group exercise classes. There was strong demand for additional Power Pump sessions, with participants noting that current availability is limited. Recruitment is already underway to support this growth, with shortlisted candidates progressing to interview.
Following the success of the initial session, further Meet the Manager opportunities have taken place at different times of day to encourage wider participation. These sessions continue to be promoted across the centre, through digital channels and via a dedicated news story on the website.
Glass Mill Leisure Centre remains committed to listening to its customers and making continuous improvements. The Meet the Manager initiative represents an important step in strengthening communication and ensuring that community voices help shape the future of the centre.
Future Meet the Manager sessions will take place in June and July. Look out for signs around the centre.
