Last week 60 Sutton Tennis Academy players competed in the Easter Grade 2 Tournament held at Better, Sutton Sports Village. A massive 689 matches were played across the week in singles and doubles by under 10’s right through to 18 and under with an additional open event taking place for Grade 3 players.

Some special achievements were made by our players, including:
• Zack Norman beat Brandon Murphy in the Open Singles
• India Ampaw won the Open Singles as well as the Open Doubles
• Julian Lewis & Tom Pitchley beat Alex Romay & Alfie Heiberg in the Open Doubles
• Christian Doel won the 16U consolation match
• Krisnaa Muhunthakumar reached the final of the 14U consolation

Hosting the event on our own courts meant coaches were able to cast an eye over all the players they coach throughout the year and work towards developing them as competitors and match players. The experience for these students at this level is invaluable giving them an opportunity to play under pressure and compete against players from other clubs.

Over 900+ players entered in total with players from across the country travelling to the event to compete. This is one of five summer Grade 2 tournaments, which is national level.
