Two years, more than 1.2 million visits and a growing community of sports clubs and gym members — Score Leisure Centre is celebrating its second birthday!

Since opening its doors on 16th October 2024, Score Leisure Centre in Leyton has continued to grow, welcoming local residents, sports clubs, visiting teams and community groups to make the most of its fantastic facilities.

To mark the milestone, the centre is celebrating from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October, with additional activities and membership offers.

A fantastic two years of sport and fitness

One of the biggest achievements has been the growth of the gym, which was not part of the original plans for the centre. Now approaching 700 members, the gym has created even more opportunities for local people to get active, improve their fitness and support their wellbeing.

The centre has also welcomed more than 1.2 million visits since opening, with its impressive 20-court sports hall providing a home for a wide range of sporting activities, including volleyball, handball, futsal, netball and basketball.

Score is proud to welcome a diverse range of clubs and organisations, including London Pulse, Olympia Handball, Pantheon, Queen Mary University, Leyton Orient Football Club and Metro Blind Sport.

The centre also supports community participation through activities such as its seniors' social pickleball sessions, helping people stay active, meet others and enjoy sport together.

More than just sport

Score continues to develop its offer and explore new opportunities to make the best use of its facilities. This includes working with TCES East London School Outreach, a specialist education provider supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

These partnerships help broaden the use of the centre and create opportunities for different groups to benefit from its facilities.

Thank you for being part of our journey

Lauren Campbell, General Manager of Leytonstone and Score Leisure Centres, said:

“Celebrating two years of Score Leisure Centre is a fantastic milestone, and we are incredibly proud of how far the centre has come. Welcoming more than 1.2 million visits and seeing our gym membership and sports hall bookings continue to grow demonstrates the important role Score is playing in the local community.

“We have fantastic facilities and a brilliant range of clubs and organisations using the centre, creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active and enjoy sport.

“Most importantly, I want to thank our amazing staff team, whose hard work and commitment have made this possible, along with our members, clubs and partners who have supported us over the past two years. We are excited to build on this success and see what the next few years bring.”

As Score enters its third year, we look forward to welcoming even more people through our doors, building new partnerships and continuing to provide opportunities for sport, fitness and community activity.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far. Here's to another successful year at Score Leisure Centre!
