Looking for something for the kids to do this holiday? Our Centres has you covered with a variety of FREE activities to keep them both active and entertained as part of the Holiday Activity and Food Programme.

The Holiday Activity and Food programme is funded by the Department for Education and enables Better leisure centres to support their local communities during the holidays. The programme was launched following the high-profile lobbying from MP’s and drive for action led by Marcus Rashford to address the holiday experience gap felt by children from disadvantaged families. Centres in Oxfordshire successfully delivered the programme during the summer holidays in 2022 and we are excited to have the opportunity to continue the programme this Easter.

Children aged 5 - 11 years who are in receipt of free school meals will enjoy an exciting mix of multi-sport activities such as racket sports, swimming*, soft play, games, arts and crafts and much more led by our enthusiast Children’s Activity Instructors. All children will also receive a nutritional lunch and learn about healthy eating.

Eligible families can book individual sessions based on their circumstance and eligible children and young people are entitled to:

  • At least four hours each day
  • Four days over the spring and winter holidays and sixteen days over the summer holidays
  • A nutritious meal each day they attend the camp

Upon booking you will be asked to input your free school meals code which can be obtained from your school or the Oxfordshire County Council. This programme is also open to refugees, including people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.

Bookings can be made via https://www.better.org.uk/haf-oxfordshire and any questions can be directed towards oxonholidayactivities@gll.org

*Families will be notified ahead of time if swimming is going to be included in a session
