An enthusiastic group of VFX students from the University of Hertfordshire, recently had the incredible opportunity to bring their second year film project to life in the beautiful surroundings of Stanborough Park. Their short film, titled "REQUIEM", is about an old lady berating her grandson for having made a deal with a dangerous tree creature, and she explains the way to break his contract through a poem. Let the students take you on the thrilling journey behind the scenes of their adventure.

“When deciding on a location for our outdoor shots, we were first drawn to Stanborough Park because of its enchanting walking trails, so we decided to visit to scope out possible locations. The moment we set foot underneath one of the park's tall bridges, we knew we had found the perfect stage for our spooky tree creature to eerily lurk in. So, in early February, we checked out our filming equipment from the university loan store and, clad in vibrant hi-vis jackets, headed to Stanborough Park for our shoot! We couldn't have asked for better support during our filming journey. The park management team went above and beyond to meet our needs, even allowing us a last-minute reshoot, and the overcast skies on our final shooting day provided the perfect lighting conditions for our VFX work.

Our first venture into film making was an unforgettable experience, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the team at Stanborough Park, as well as our dedicated lecturers who supported us throughout - this project would not have been possible without them. The team at Better were only too pleased to be able to help out our local students and we wish the whole team every success with this project and their future studies.
