Basketball is the second most popular team sport among young people in England, behind only football, with more than 500,000 Londoners playing regularly. NBA fandom also continues to grow, with interest among UK adults increasing by 24% compared with three years ago.

One of the Mayor of London’s legacy projects linked to the NBA London Game was launched in January 2026 to provide affordable, coached basketball sessions for young people across the capital, targeting youth, junior, and adult participants.
Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre was delighted to be offered the opportunity to encourage young people in the south of Hillingdon to get involved in a low-cost basketball session each week.

Due to the popularity of the NBA Court Time sessions, they will continue to be delivered until the end of the current school term in July 2026. Currently we offer the following basketball social sessions for £3 per hour

Tuesdays

4pm-5pm – For ages 5-10 years
5pm-6pm - For ages 11-15 years

Saturdays

2pm-3pm – For ages 5-10 years
3pm-4pm – For ages 11-15 years

In addition to this, Botwell Green is now providing a new women and girls session which began on Sunday 31st May.

Sundays

2pm-3pm – For ages 5-10 years
3pm-4pm – For ages 11-15 years

The female only sessions provide an opportunity to get involved in basketball while delivering benefits that extend beyond the game itself. The programme is about building confidence, breaking down barriers, and demonstrating that basketball is truly a sport for everyone. The sessions offer a safe and empowering environment where girls and women can try basketball, stay active, learn the value of teamwork, and develop resilience through fun.

Thanks to funding received from the Mayor of London’s Office, the cost per session for all the basketball sessions on offer have been maintained at a minimal rate. This funding helps cover the costs of court hire, coaching, equipment and uniforms.

All coaches delivering the sessions are participants in Basketball England’s London Coaches Programme, ensuring that players benefit from high-quality coaching and support.
