Warm Spaces in Morden Leisure Centre

We understand how challenging the winter months can be, especially with the rising cost of living. That's why, this winter, Morden Leisure Centre in Merton is offering a comforting warm space. As a not-for-profit charitable social enterprise, operating in partnership with London Borough of Merton, we're here to support Merton residents with these small comforts during these challenging times.

This initiative is set up in response to this winter’s cost of living crisis and will offer anyone living in the vicinity of a participating leisure centre a warm welcome, comfortable seating, the opportunity to charge a phone or device, use the free WiFi or even have a hot shower.  

The Warm Space will be open to all, both leisure centre members and non-members alike on the following times and dates:

Morden Leisure Centre

Monday: 1pm-3pm

Wednesday: 1pm-3pm

Friday: 1pm-3pm

Commenting on the Warm Spaces initiative James Davis, General Manager at Morden Leisure Centre said: “As a facility at the heart of our local community we quickly became aware that a number of local residents were concerned that they might struggle to heat their homes this winter and as a charitable social enterprise we wanted to help.

Leisure centres are ideally suited to serve as warm spaces, they are easily accessible, known to everyone and a natural meeting place.  Our staff will be on hand to offer a warm welcome to anyone wishing to make the most of our warm space during the difficult months ahead.”

The warm spaces in Merton will consist of the following:

• Relax in our comfortable seating
• Charge your phone or device
• Enjoy free Wi-Fi
• Access free online newspapers and magazines via PressReader
• Get free access to virtual fitness classes to stay active at home via the Better UK app
• Freshen up with a hot shower
• And to make your visit even more comforting, you can have a free tea or coffee
