Residents will soon have access to a range of new health and wellbeing activities at Pools on the Park, as plans progress for the launch of an innovative programme in the centre's new multi-use studio.

Designed to complement the centre's existing fitness offer, the new programme will focus on specialist small-group sessions that support residents with specific health, wellbeing and fitness goals. The initiative aims to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants can benefit from more personalised support while improving their physical and mental wellbeing. The initial programme will include Women's Only Strength, Women's Only Mobility & Core, Correct Lifting Techniques, Menopause Strength and Parkinson's Support sessions.

The programme has been developed in line with Richmond Council's Leisure Strategy, helping to respond to identified local needs by creating more inclusive opportunities for residents to be physically active. Several of the planned sessions support key priorities around improving health outcomes, reducing barriers to participation and providing targeted support for groups that can benefit from specialist physical activity opportunities.

The introduction of women-only sessions will provide dedicated spaces for women to improve their strength, mobility and confidence in a supportive setting. Meanwhile, the Menopause Strength classes will offer tailored exercise opportunities designed to help participants manage the physical changes associated with menopause and maintain long-term health and fitness.

The new Correct Lifting Techniques sessions will support residents looking to build confidence in the gym by learning safe and effective movement patterns, while the Parkinson's Support sessions will provide specialised physical activity opportunities for individuals living with Parkinson's, helping participants remain active, independent and socially connected.

As part of the wider development of the programme, the sessions will also be linked to ongoing community engagement initiatives, helping create pathways into regular physical activity for residents across the borough. This reflects Pools on the Park's commitment to making exercise accessible to a diverse range of people and ensuring local leisure facilities continue to support the health and wellbeing of the community.

The multi-use studio has been created to offer greater flexibility within the centre and provide space for activities that benefit from a smaller, more focused environment. By delivering sessions in a small-group format, instructors will be able to offer more individual guidance and support while fostering a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere.

Further activities may be introduced as the programme develops, broadening the range of specialist opportunities available to local residents. The new studio programme represents an exciting addition to the offer at Pools on the Park and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to supporting healthier, more active communities across Richmond.
