When it comes to the safety of customers, you will not find anywhere better than East Manchester and we have recently taken safety to a whole new level.

In January East Manchester went live with its new Assisted Lifeguard Technology, Pool View. Pool view is a system that is built up of 4 components, Lifeguards, monitors, underwater sensors and the systems brain. The system eradicates all blind spots in the pool allowing the lifeguards to really become the all seeing heroes we know they are.

The underwater sensors detects all swimmers that are in the pool and highlights those swimmers that may fall into "danger zones" whilst timers tick down and alarm the Lifeguards at their chair and the centres team at reception. The lifeguard can check the sensors on a monitor to see if this is a true emergency and silence the alarm if no action is required.

Along with the monthly training our lifeguards have to attend, they have also received a number of additional training sessions from Better’s National Pools and Water Safety Manager and have completed the RLSS ELearning module on the Pool View system.

The system does not only bring an increased sense of safety for all but it also allows us utilise the full 8 lanes, 21M wide pool and offer more swimming to our members and local community.

One member who as passed comment on the changes to the centre since the new year said "I love it, I love that there are always spaces to book into for swimming, the lanes always feels very spacious and I feel even more confident than before that if something was to happen, I am truly in safe hands".

Our staff continuously report to us that "this system is amazing, the blinds spots that was there before are no longer an issue, glare? No problem. It’s unreal. The Space the public have, amazing"
