As you may be aware, the Link Centre suffered severe flood damage in 2023, and our team worked hard to get your local centre back up and running - so we wanted to say a big thank you for your support over the past few years.

Now we're approaching the final phase in our refurbishment works, we're pleased to let you know of upcoming improvements that'll allow us to re-instate all activities to the ice rink and improve the skating experience for all. To find out more, simply read on.

What's changing?

As part of the final phase of the refurbishment works at Link Centre, the Ice Rink will be temporarily closed to all members and customers from Monday 27th April 2026 until Sunday 17th May 2026. We aim to reopen and welcome skaters back from Monday 18th May 2026.

The improvement works will include a refreshed look and feel of the ice rink, new lighting and electrical work as well as investing into better air handling cooling systems and a new ice cutting machine. We appreciate that this temporary pause in service may be disappointing, but we're excited to upgrade your ice rink and make your skating experience even better.

Temporary disruption

As we work to improve our ice rink facilities for your local community, there will be a temporary pause in service at the Ice Rink for all of the following sessions:

  • All Public Skating
  • Patch Ice
  • Learn to Skate lessons
  • All Ice Club bookings

When will the improvement works be completed?

All works are due to be completed by Sunday 7th June 2026 with all programmes and services returning to normal from Monday 8th June.

Please note: all other facilities and activities at Link Centre will continue to operate as normal during the refurbishment.

What about my monthly Ice membership?

Don't worry, you don't need to do a thing. To reflect the 3-week rink closure, all monthly memberships (including Ice Skating lessons) that have Ice included in their membership will automatically receive 75% discount on their May payment.

What about my annual Ice membership?

If you currently have an annual Ice-related membership, we're crediting your account with 3 extra weeks so that you're still receiving your full annual access to the Ice Rink.

Temporary pause in lessons

If you're a Parent or Guardian and your child attends ice-only lessons, we'd like to make you aware that there'll be a temporary pause in lessons from Monday 27th April until Sunday 17th May 2026. Our lesson programmes will restart on Monday 18th May 2026.

What will the facility look like between Monday 18th May and Sunday 7th June 2026?

The Ice Rink toilets, changing rooms, and skate hire will be closed for the duration of the improvement works. We are arranging an alternative location for skate hire from Monday 18th May, and alternative toilets and changing facilities will be available in other areas of the centre.
