The White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre is delighted to invite local residents to our Walking Sports Festival – a free, fun-filled event designed to help you try new activities, meet others, and enjoy a day of wellbeing and movement. Whether you have experience in the sport or you are completely new to the sport or the walking version, this is the perfect opportunity to explore what’s on offer in a friendly and supportive environment.

Date: Monday 26th January
Time: 11am-2pm
Cost: Free entry (booking recommended)

Throughout the day, you can dip in and out of sessions or stay for the whole event – it’s entirely up to you! All activities will be led by experienced local instructors and community sports groups, ensuring everyone feels welcome and supported at their own pace.

What’s on:

Walking Netball: A slower-paced version of traditional netball, walking netball allows participants to enjoy the game at a comfortable pace, with a focus on fitness, fun, and social interaction. Players must walk at all times and cannot run, making it accessible for all fitness levels.

Walking Football: Walking football is a low-impact version of soccer where players must walk instead of running, promoting physical activity and social connection. It’s ideal for older adults or anyone looking for a gentler way to enjoy the beautiful game.

Walking Cricket: Walking cricket offers a slower, more relaxed version of the traditional sport, encouraging participants to enjoy the game without the intensity of running. It’s designed to improve fitness and social engagement, especially for older players.

Walking Basketball: Walking basketball is a modified version of the game where running is not allowed, providing a lower-impact alternative that still emphasizes teamwork, skill development, and cardiovascular health. It's perfect for those looking for a fun, accessible way to enjoy basketball.

This session will be led by the Abingdon Eagles baskteball club.

Walking Tennis: A slower version of tennis where players walk rather than run, walking tennis is a great way to stay active and improve coordination without the intense physical strain. It’s ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels who want to enjoy the game at a relaxed pace.
