In most cases, swimming sessions will continue even if it’s raining - after all, you’re going to get wet anyway. However, sessions may be paused or cancelled in cases of dangerous weather conditions such as thunder, lightning, storms, snow, or serious fog, which can affect swimmer safety and lifeguard visibility.

Here’s what to expect at specific venues:

Finchley Lido Leisure Centre
The outdoor pool may close during periods of heavy rain. Where possible, Swim for All bookings will be moved to the indoor pool.

Pools on the Park
Swimming sessions will continue during rain. Sessions will only be disrupted if there is thunder and lightning.

Debdale Outdoor Centre
Swimming sessions will continue during rain. However, sessions will be cancelled if there is thunder and lightning.

Wycombe Rye Lido & Gym
The lido remains open throughout the year and sessions will continue in most weather conditions. Sessions will only be affected if there is thunder and lightning or other severe weather that could impact customer safety.

Jesus Green Lido
Yes, sessions will still go ahead if it is raining. If there is thunder, the pool will close for 30 minutes from the time of the last thunder is heard. For lightning, we will be closed for 30 minutes from the time lightning was last seen.

Oasis Sports Centre
Yes, you'll only find the pool closed when weather conditions affect the lifeguard's visibility of the pool or in case of thunder.

London Fields Lido
Yes, you'll only find the pool closed when weather conditions affect the lifeguard's visibility of the pool or in case of thunder. During thunder, the pool will close for 30 minutes from the last thunder strike.

West Reservoir Centre
Yes, sessions still go ahead during the rain. Sessions will only be cancelled in cases of dangerous environmental conditions (i.e. lightning storms, snow, serious fog) where swimmers are less visible to our safety team.

Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex
Yes, as long as it is safe to do so.

Stanborough Park Water Sports Centre
Yes, sessions still go ahead during the rain. Sessions will only be cancelled in cases of dangerous environmental conditions (i.e. lightning storms, serious fog) where swimmers are less visible to our safety team.

Woodstock Open Air Pool
Yes, swim sessions are still on when it's raining as long as it is safe. In the event of a thunderstorm, however, the pool will need to be closed.
