This Sunday March 6th sees the first Little Wormwood Scrubs 2km Family Fun Run take place  starting at 11am.

This is an event for the whole family and seen as a great way to exercise together at your own pace. Further runs will take place on Sundays through March.

Participants can just turn up on the day, but it will help with planning if we do know the numbers coming on the day by emailing sportandleisure@rbkc.gov.uk .

Meet at the vehicle entrance on Dalgarno Gardens (near the notice board)

Jogging can be one of the simplest and cheapest ways to get fit and stay fit, and it’s great for burning calories too. However old you are and no matter what shape you’re in, jogging can be done pretty much anytime, anywhere with barely any equipment and at any pace, just comfortable clothes and suitable pair of trainers!

Regular jogging offers many  health benefits including:

  • Jogging improves mental health and reduces depression
  • Helps to reduce the risk of diabetes
  • It will help to lower your blood pressure

The average person will burn between 80 to 140 calories per mile. 30 minutes of running will burn between 280 and 520 calories, depending on your weight and speed. The calories burned running will depend on your weight, time spent running and to a lesser degree, your speed. Jogging burns more calories per minute than almost every other sport.
