ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP TOUR VISITS PETER MAY SC - #HOWZAT!!!

Peter May Sports Centre and the art of Cricket go hand in hand, the winter nets and indoor games are in full swing as the cricket balls are as stealth and silent as gale winds circulating willow trees. Cheering from the teams, supporting spectators and families can be heard across the facility, as individual teams compete to win the league held at the centre. The cricket teams work their craft with peak dedication, with the cricket season approaching in a number of weeks, It’s anyone’s game!

Sharks Academy club is one of the many that have grown from strength to strength over the past few years, with individuals from all walks of life and skillset participating, merging together at the nets as they seek to develop each others potential. The club booked the ICC Cricket World Cup to visit Peter May Sports Centre because the facility’s reputation lends itself to professionalism, as well as being known as a facility that is welcoming to a large number of people from diverse backgrounds who venture to play the game.

At Peter May Sports Centre we are advocates of Equality and Diversity and therefore supporters of #BOWLOUTRACISM, the campaign is backed by the England Cricket Board and ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy which is currently on tour visiting schools, cricket clubs, sports centres, community hubs and many other locations to inspire, educate, increase awareness and bring together everyone and anyone to participate.

“We don’t like cricket, we love it”; popular quote, a chant and song from the players. A theme for all cricketers either at grass roots, right up to the elite. These are just few of the words that carry the cricketing world during the good and bad times. However, these words are more meaningful when the World Cup comes knocking. Lest not forget that the T20 International Women’s World Cup is currently underway with all participating countries holding their breath, putting it all on the line for the ICC World Cup Trophy. Thenafter is the Men’s turn to show what they can do as they battle it out in October 2022.

We Look forward to all the drama unfolding, let the games begin!
