Dorking Sports Centre Gym Reopening
Members returning to the gym in the New Year will find a dramatically improved fitness environment here at Dorking Sports Centre, as we prepare to officially reopen on 2nd January following months of extensive refurbishment.
The project represents a significant investment in both space and equipment and promises a completely upgraded experience designed to meet the growing needs of the community. We appreciate the patience and support of our customers throughout this period.
One of the most notable changes is the introduction of brand-new Technogym cardio machines, including state-of-the-art treadmills, step machines and exercise bikes. These machines offer smoother performance and innovative digital features, providing enhanced tracking, improved comfort and a more enjoyable workout experience.
The gym has also undergone a major expansion, with its floor space increased by one-third. This transformation was made possible by repurposing the former changing room area, allowing the gym to reclaim the space and reimagine it as part of the main fitness floor. As a result, members now have significantly more room to move freely, train safely and exercise in comfort, particularly during busy periods.
As part of the redesign, a newly created and fully equipped weights area has been introduced. This gives strength-training enthusiasts access to modern free weights, benches, racks and resistance equipment. Whether members are just beginning their fitness journey or working towards advanced performance goals, the upgraded space provides the right tools and environment for every level of training.
Alongside the equipment upgrades, the refurbishment includes ongoing redecoration work. While this may continue into the early reopening period, it will have minimal impact on workouts, ensuring members can continue their routines as normal. Once completed, these finishing touches will create an even more welcoming and motivating atmosphere.
What’s next?
During the week commencing 26th January, the gym will be given a fresh new look with updated Better branding. The gym will remain open throughout this time, with minimal, if any, disruption to workouts.
The studio will reopen on 19th January, with access via the sports hall corridor. Work will continue in the area between the studio and the gym to create a new first-floor toilet.
Gym access and changing facilities
For gym use and fitness classes, members will temporarily use the ground floor changing rooms and shower facilities. Lockers will be available in both the sports hall corridor and the swim changing village.
Keeping you moving
To ensure members can continue their fitness routines while refurbishment works are ongoing, Better Health members will receive temporary access to nearby leisure centres until Saturday 31st January.
Please note this does not apply to Better Swim members, as swimming facilities are unaffected.
Members can enjoy full access at:
Leatherhead Leisure Centre
Tadworth Leisure and Community Centre
Donyngs Leisure Centre
Horley Leisure Centre
