Over the past few months, the staff at Better Gym Mere Green have been competing in a six-a-side league nearby, some members may have seen the notice board in reception get a table update every Monday, we know there are some members really keen to keep up to date with the scores!

We take a lot of pride in being a community feel gym and feel extremely proud that the football team is talk of the Centre every Monday morning, the staff love to tell members how it's going and how it's only getting better week by week! Let's get into how it was done!

The first couple of games in the season had some defensive teething problems, but still came out with wins 4-1 and 3-2, the second game being 2-0 down at half time and really having to rally in the second half! These games were then followed up by 3 convincing wins, 2-0,2-0 and 5-0 before coming up against the eventual runners up for the first time and coming out 4-1 winners to get us to the halfway point, 7 games played, 7 wins, only 4 goals conceded and 22 scored!

Moving into the second half of the season, starting off against the team that would finish bottom, but definitely put in strong defensive displays over the 2 games, with us only coming out 2-0 winners again, we then hit our only true wobble of the season, conceding in the final minute of the game against the team in 3rd to draw 2-2 followed by a lackluster 0-0 draw to another in the relegation scrap.

Coming into the final stretch of the season we were still only 1 point clear at the top of the table after our couple of draws, knowing we still had a games to play against the 2 teams directly behind us, a swift 5-0 against a middle of the pack team brought us back into form for what we knew would be the biggest game of the season, 1st vs 2nd, winner sets themselves up for a straight run to the title as well as confirming promotion in this game, having to fight from the first minute, they really gave pushed us to give our best game of the season, eventually running out 4-3 winners and putting us in the driver's seat with 2 games to go.

The final couple of games didn't disappoint as we went back to our strong defensive ways and just started scoring for fun, winning 3-0 on the penultimate day to confirm our title win, and then running through 5-0 on the final day just as our victory lap game!

The new season has already started, and after taking a 2-1 win and a 5-0 win, we have started strong and are straight to the top of the league, the notice board will be updated weekly for anyone who wants to keep track of our scores across this season!
