Mere Green Football Team Win Again!

As most people know, the staff at Better Gym Mere Green take part in a 6 a side league at The lamb ground in Tamworth, 2 seasons ago they won the 3rd division in the first full season they played in, walking away with the league not losing a game! They have since played a season in the second division where they finished just outside the promotion places, but moving into their second season in the middle division full of confidence.

After a slow start they started to find a consistant team bringing in a couple of members of Mere Green as support, eventually finding themselves back in 3rd (just outside the 2 promotion places) at the halfway point of the season, but it was the second half of the season where the real form was hit, Comfotably beating the current top team 8-3 which then lead to 4 more wins in a row and then a draw with the team who had moved into first in the meantime.

At this point it left our Mere Green team, joint on points with top of the league with 2 games to go, but a slightly worse off goal difference, and with 1st playing 3rd and team MG playing bottom of the league, it was a great chance to set up the final game of the season, they took the challenge and made sure not to stumble beating bottom place 8-0 on the day! The team who were in first lost to 3rd place, letting team MG sneak into first but only 1 point ahead of 2nd and 3rd.

On the final game of the season, knowing a win would mean the title is in hand, a strong team was put out playing a mid table side who had nothing to play for, team MG came out 3-0 winners once again, so before another ball was kicked by another team, they knew they would be champions! This means for the upcoming season, the Better Gym Mere Green team, will be in the premier division for the first time!
