On 20th December, GLL's Sport Foundation Application Window opens.

The window remains open until 20th February, to allows talented athletes to apply for support them to achieve their potential.

The GLL Sport Foundation is an organisation operated by us, and as a Charitable Social Enterprise GLL, we aim to support talented athletes across the UK.

In 2007 GLL became aware of young talented athletes having to give up on their dreams because of the high costs of training, travel and competitions.

National research showed the annual cost of attaining high national sport rankings averaged £6,000. In many cases, talent was being lost due to financial hardship with an associated negative impact on local young people, communities and sports clubs. GLL was determined to develop a scheme to counter this problem.

The GLL Sport Foundation was born and launched in 2008 with the support of Sally Gunnell OBE who became the Foundation’s Patron.

We are encouraging Cornwall talented athletes to visit the GLL Sport Foundation website, to see if they are eligible to apply for support.

We want to support Cornish athletes to reach their potential.

We want to help reduce the financial pressures faced by athletes living in Cornwall, and the travel required to attend high level competition.

We want to use the Foundation to aspire communities to participate in physical activity.

Create a long-term national pathway.

So, we are encouraging young and older athletes to view the Foundation Criteria and apply from 20th December.
