Kings Hall Leisure Centre Redevelopment
We're so pleased to announce that Hackney Council has confirmed that major restoration and improvement works will begin in late 2025 at Kings Hall Leisure Centre. Due to the scale of the refurbishment and the current condition of the Grade II listed building, the centre will need to close from 24 December 2025, with a planned reopening in early 2029.
During this period, we're committed to supporting all Kings Hall members. Ahead of the closure, we will contact affected members to arrange your membership access and how we're keeping you moving. We are also working with the Council to explore whether temporary health and fitness options can be made available elsewhere in East Hackney while the refurbishment is underway.
Kings Hall is a much-loved community facility with a long history. However, its condition has worsened in recent years, leading to rising repair costs and a reduced customer experience. Despite financial challenges faced by local authorities nationwide, Hackney Council has chosen to invest in the building’s future to ensure it remains a vital hub for health, wellbeing and community activity.
