National Sports Open Weekend - 18th and 19th July
Get ready to discover something new as National Sports Open Weekend returns on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July.
We're inviting our local community to enjoy a weekend of free fitness activities, explore our facilities and meet our friendly fitness team as we join Better's nationwide celebration of sport and physical activity.
Whether you're looking to kickstart your fitness journey, try a new class or simply see what our centre has to offer, National Sports Open Weekend is the perfect opportunity to get involved. Our qualified fitness instructors will be on hand throughout the weekend to provide guidance, answer your questions and ensure everyone enjoys a safe, welcoming and inclusive experience.

Activity Highlights
Gym Taster Sessions
Discover our fully equipped gym with support from our qualified fitness instructors. Whether you're completely new to the gym or returning after some time away, our team will help you get started, demonstrate equipment safely and offer advice to support your fitness goals.
Mind & Body Pilates
Take time to improve your flexibility, posture, balance and core strength in our relaxing Pilates class. Suitable for all abilities, this session is a great way to improve both physical and mental wellbeing.
Cardio Group Cycle
Boost your fitness in our instructor-led Group Cycle class. This fun and energising workout is suitable for a range of fitness levels and is a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness in a supportive group environment.
Pickleball
Try one of the UK's fastest-growing sports during our Pickleball taster sessions. Easy to learn and great fun, Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, making it suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether you're trying it for the first time or already enjoy playing, our friendly team will be on hand to help you get involved.
Booking Information
All activities must be booked in advance. Pickleball sessions are booked as individual time slots, so you may be playing alongside other participants who have booked the same session. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, enjoy some friendly competition and experience the social side of the sport.
What to Bring
To help you get the most out of your visit, please bring:
- Comfortable workout clothing
- Suitable trainers (non-marking trainers are recommended for Pickleball)
- A refillable water bottle
- A small towel
- Any personal medication you may require during your visit
Changing facilities and lockers are available for customers to use.

Your health and wellbeing are important to us. If you have a medical condition, injury, disability, are pregnant or require any adjustments to take part, please speak to a member of our fitness team before your session. Our qualified instructors will be happy to discuss your individual needs and, where possible, adapt activities to help you participate safely and comfortably.

Non-members
Everyone is welcome to take part in National Sports Open Weekend.
If you're not already a Better member, simply create a free Better account via the Better UK app or online at bookings.better.org.uk/register. Once registered, you can book any available Open Weekend activity or select an Open Day General Access Session.
As part of the registration process, customers will be asked to agree to the activity terms and conditions, including a signed waiver granting access to the centre.
