Sutton Gymnastics Academy Floor & Vault Competition Success
On 22nd and 23rd April gymnasts from Sutton Gymnastics Academy competed at the London Region Floor and Vault competition, which was held at Europa Gym Club in Dartford, and achieved fantastic success with the following results:
- Gold - 6 medals
- Silver - 4 medals
- Bronze - 5 medals
- 4th place - 3 ribbons
- 5th place - 5 ribbons
- 6th place - 4 ribbons
- Level 7 Highest Floor Score Trophy
- Level 5 Highest Floor Score Trophy
For our younger gymnasts it was their first experience of a regional gymnastics competition and for our senior gymnasts the last time they competed at a regional competition was 2019!
As always our gymnasts were a credit to the club, not just in how they competed but also how they conducted themselves while waiting for their turn... and there was a lot of waiting! As always there were nerves before competing and a few tears shed afterwards, which goes to show how passionately they all care.
A special mention goes out to Lily who twisted her ankle on her very first move in her floor routine, but battled on through the pain to complete her routine which included a round off/ back somersault!
We are so very proud of all our gymnasts for competing and based on the huge haul of medals and ribbons it was a massive success. We also came away with 2 trophies for the highest scores on Floor routines achieved over the whole weekend across both male and female gymnasts. Alex scored the highest for Level 7 and Sasha achieved the best Level 5 score.
The club would like to thank all the coaches for their hard work and dedication, and for continuing to make SGA a great place to work and train. A special mention goes to coaches Jess and Sarah for giving up their free time to attend the competition. The feedback was amazing and as one of the parents said, “Thank you for all the work you do. We are so lucky to have SGA as our club".
