Cheerleading is one of the most diverse activities and inclusive sports out there,

and the UK Cheerleading Association are on a mission to ‘provide a positive

channel for health and social education to all through Cheerleading regardless of

gender, class, creed, culture, race or physical limitations’.

UKCA in 2022 will host 3 out of 5 of their national championships in Manchester at Belle Vue Sports Village supported by MCRactive, and these events bring together cheer teams from all over the country to compete and celebrate everything the sport has to offer. If you’ve not experienced the infectious positivity of a cheerleading event before then your in luck as UKCA return to Belle Vue Sports Village on 3rd and 4th December 2022.

Following a breakthrough moment in 2016 when the sport received IOC approval, the International Olympic Committee on 20th July 2021 voted in favour of granting full recognition to the International Cheer Union (ICU) and cheerleading, making the sport eligible for application to be included on the Olympics program. Although not successful in their application for 2024 the International Cheer Union is already looking ahead to Los Angeles 2028, watch this space!

And if your keen to get involved in the sport why not visit the UKCA web-site for more information: https://ukca.org.uk/
