GLL is partnering with Diabetes UK for the third year running to promote the charity’s annual Swim22 and One Million Step Challenge.

The collaboration aims to encourage physical activity while raising awareness and funds for diabetes support and research.

GLL manages six ‘Better’ branded leisure centres in Swindon, including The Link Centre, Croft Sports Centre, Delta Tennis Centre, Dorcan Better Health and Recreation Centre, Haydon Centre, and Health Hydro.

Barnaby Rich, partnership manager for GLL in Swindon, said: "We’re proud to support Diabetes UK again and help even more people discover the benefits of getting active.

"With millions of people in the UK at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, staying active and maintaining a healthy weight can play an important role in reducing that risk.

"Challenges like Swim22 and the One Million Step Challenge make it fun and motivating to move more while raising funds for an incredibly important cause."

To promote the challenges in 2026, GLL will use social media and in-centre messaging to reach members across Swindon.

The organisation will also offer discounted memberships, free training events, and expert advice to support participants.

Swim22 invites people to swim the equivalent of crossing the English Channel over 12 weeks starting March 22, while the One Million Step Challenge encourages people to walk around 10,800 steps per day for three months starting in July.
