The Welwyn Half Marathon will be returning to Gosling Sports Park on the 2nd April at 9am.

This great event starts at Gosling Sports Park and attracts hundreds of runners each year. Although the half marathon itself is available to those ages 17 and over, it is still a family favourite with its free 400m fun run for all just before the half marathon!

Starting and finishing on the impressive 400m athletics track at Gosling Sports Park, this event directs you out of the stadium, towards the Cole Green Way – a disused railway line which is a perfect traffic-free track to run along.

The event has a rich history, previously boasting a world record when Tony Simmons ran 1:02:37 back in 1978 and also with George Howard, Great-great-grandson of Ebenezer Howard (founder of Welwyn Garden City) winning the half in 2019!

The event is professionally chip-timed, meaning runners will receive an accurate and real time measurement of their finish time. Further to this, it also includes fantastic marshal support, free race photos, finish line goodies and shiny new medal.

This event is more than just a run. You’ll be warmed up with personal trainers, welcomed home by a professional commentator and your cheer-squad will be kept fed and watered by quality caterers while you run.

Mike Jubb, Head of Events at ATW:

“ATW are looking forward to the Welwyn Half Marathon, one of our most popular events in Hertfordshire. Taking place three weeks before the London Marathon, it’s excellent as a warm up race and the competitors love the start and finish on the running track.”

The ATW Welwyn Half Marathon promises to be an exciting day for all involved, providing a perfect way for the runners to challenge themselves. With limited spaces available, make sure to sign up now to avoid missing out!
